BigMachines Automates Sales Processes for Thermo Electron Corporation

Leader in analytical instruments will dramatically reduce its inquiry-to-order cycle

BigMachines, Inc., the leading provider of on-demand configuration and quoting software, announced today that the world’s leading provider of analytical instruments, Thermo Electron Corporation, has selected the BigMachines Lean Front-End (LFE) platform to automate the front-end sales processes within the company’s temperature control business. By implementing the BigMachines Lean Front-End (LFE), Thermo will eliminate manual steps associated with product configuration, quoting, and ordering during the sales cycle. As a result, Thermo will reduce the time it takes to develop and generate quotes for temperature control products and respond to customers quicker.

Thermo’s temperature control products comprise a large portfolio of recirculating chillers, baths and heat exchangers for a wide range of laboratory and process applications. With the help of the BigMachines LFE, Thermo’s temperature control business will streamline sales and management workflow processes.

Currently ATD’s front-end sales processes use disconnected tools and manual steps for quote generation. In addition, the company relies largely on an employee’s tribal knowledge and expertise for sales product selection and configuration. This often results in slower than desired customer response times. With the deployment of BigMachines CPP, ATD will eliminate these manual processes to generate timelier, more consistent, and customer-friendly proposals.

The BigMachines LFE will also help ensure consistent adherence to Thermo’s business guidelines and eliminate potential errors caused by manual calculations.
