Director of Professional Services

Location: Deerfield, IL & San Mateo, CA

BigMachines, Inc., a profitable, rapidly growing software-as-a-service (SaaS) company (www.bigmachines.com) is in search a high caliber professional service executive to lead its software implementation teams in Chicago. The company has been growing revenue 83% p.a. since 2004, is led by a strong management team, and backed by strong financial investors who are looking to accelerate the company’s growth to the next level.

Directors will have the opportunity to help lead groups of Project Managers and Engineers to rapidly implement BigMachines innovative web software solutions for our clients. Directors will manage Big Machines highly skilled services solution staff in their day-to-day tasks and in the delivery of our high-end product. This includes managing key customer relationships and planning resource allocation across your team to deliver for all our clients. The director must be a strong team leader who can derive rapid, efficient work from their team.

The Director position will have the opportunity to work collectively with clients and BigMachines team members in services, support, sales, and product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage key customer relationships at executive and senior management level
  • Oversee Project Managers and Engineering resources in groups of 7-15
  • Responsible for managing the billings and revenue productivity and margin for their team
  • Ensure customer success through rapid high-quality implementations run by your team
  • Implement and utilize services best practices & process improvement to increase services capability and drive increased revenue and profitability to support business goals
  • Ensure project teams adhere to project resource budgets, meet deliverables and timelines
  • Ensure project teams efficiently allocate project resources and manage scope changes
  • Responsible for leading professional service team members through mentoring and training for continued performance improvement
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by PS leadership
  • Travel as needed to support the team’s client engagements (typically 25-50% of time)

Required Capabilities:

  • Strong management experience
  • Confidence in ability to lead teams and deliver from day one
  • Understanding of driving business process improvement for customers (sales, order management/logistics) enabled by software technology
  • Comfort in interacting with executive level client project sponsors
  • Strong communication skills with experience developing and managing customer relationships and services teams
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to learn quickly
  • High motivation and desire to do whatever it takes to help the customer and our company succeed

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience managing enterprise software implementations
  • 3+ years team leadership and management experience
  • 3+ years project budget management experience
  • Proven track record of successfully driving profitability and utilization
  • Experience with CRM and/or eBusiness applications and web based programming languages/technology preferred.
  • BS in engineering, computer science, or management preferred
