Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) defines the technical architecture for a software product that relies upon independent Application Program Interface (API) services which reside on other networks or elsewhere on the internet (“web-service” APIs). These APIs can be called within programs to perform tasks without knowledge or dependence on the underlying platform. BigMachines uses SOA in order to be easier to maintain, faster to implement, and more flexible to change—which enables flexible interfaces to other programs or legacy IT systems.
