UX Web Designer
Location - Deerfield, IL
Description
BigMachines, Inc., a profitable, rapidly growing web software company (www.bigmachines.com) founded in 2000 with offices in Deerfield, IL (Chicago north suburbs), San Mateo, CA (Peninsula/Bay Area), and Frankfurt Germany, is in search of talented team members. The company has been growing over 50% per year, is led by a strong management team, and backed by strong financial investors, who are looking to accelerate the company’s growth to the next level.
The UX Web Designer works to create interface designs for usability review, client review and sales demonstrations, as well as serve as a knowledge resource for web-based user interface trends. You will work to actively assist in improving the usability, usefulness, and desirability of the BigMachines application in collaboration with BigMachines Product Managers, Development teams, Professional Services Managers and Sales Consultants.
Duties
- Work closely with product managers, project managers, development engineers and customers to build storyboards, and proof-of-concept mockups of proposed and planned BigMachines applications and features.
- Work with professional services team to ensure client implementations comply with interface design standards.
- Collaborate in the definition of user interface design standards for the BigMachines application, to optimize ease-of-use and achieve an integrated and consistent look and feel.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in web design, with specific expertise with web-based applications
- Outstanding knowledge of cross-browser CSS design
- Fluency with web development technologies such as: HTML, JavaScript
- Strong graphics design using Flash, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or other mockup tools
- Experience designing layouts, UI structure, and discovering usage patterns
- Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate actively and proactively with others in a cross-functional team
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and as a presenter
- Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity
- Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering highly-polished web-based designs under tight time constraints
