Vice President of Professional Services
Location: Deerfield, IL (Chicago North Suburbs)
BigMachines, Inc., a profitable, rapidly growing software-as-a-service (SaaS) company (www.bigmachines.com) is in search a high caliber professional service executive to lead its software implementation teams in Chicago. The company has been growing revenue 83% p.a. since 2004, is led by a strong management team, and backed by strong financial investors who are looking to accelerate the company’s growth to the next level.
The VP of Professional Services (PS) will have the opportunity to lead the rapidly growing professional service team in Chicago with the goal of attaining best-in-class customer success and profitability by driving rapid implementation of BigMachines innovative web software solutions. The VP will lead and manage Big Machines highly skilled PS leadership team in their day-to-day tasks and in the delivery of our high-end product. This includes building the team, embedding best practice processes, managing key customer relationships, and planning efficient resource growth and allocation across the team to deliver for all our clients. The VP must be a strong team leader who can build a high-performance culture that delivers world class results.
The VP will have the opportunity to work collectively with clients and BigMachines PS leadership and management team to drive continuous improvement in our professional service delivery, as well as contribute to the company’s overall business and solutions strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the professional team by defining a clear PS mission and real-time goals
- Build a high performance culture driven to achieve superior results via meritocracy
- Manage and mentor several highly professional PS directors
- Ensure customer success through rapid high-quality implementations
- Build key customer relationships at executive and senior management level
- Collaborate with management across functions to ensure customer and company success
- Manage the billings and revenue productivity and margin for the team to achieve targets
- Implement and utilize services best practice systems and standardized processes to increase services capability and drive increased satisfaction, revenue and margins
- Ensure project teams adhere to project resource budgets, meet deliverables and timelines
- Ensure project teams efficiently allocate project resources and manage scope changes
- Responsible for recruiting and building career paths for professional service team members through goal-setting, continuous feedback, mentoring, and training
- Other duties, growth initiatives, and responsibilities as assigned by executive leadership
- Travel as needed to support the team’s client engagements (typically 50% of time)
Required Capabilities:
- Strong management and leadership experience, ideally in leading enterprise software professional service teams
- Ability to build, motivate, guide, inspire, and drive a high performing team
- Managing teams including goal setting and performance reviews
- Understanding of driving business process improvement for customers (sales, order management/logistics) enabled by enterprise software technology
- Managing to a budget with clear goal-setting and real-time performance metrics displayed in Dashboards visible to all team members
- Ability to quickly build trusted advisor relationships with customer executives
- Negotiation and diplomacy skills in managing customer and internal issues
- Strong communication skills with excellent writing and presentation skills
- Good team player that can work effectively with management peers across functions
- Excellent analytical skills and high aptitude with ability to learn quickly
- High motivation. Will do whatever it takes to ensure customer and company success
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years relevant industry and leadership experience
- 3+ years in successfully building and leading large teams that drive enterprise software implementations with proven track record of successfully driving high customer satisfaction and profitability
- Experience with deploying CRM and/or e-Business applications
- BS in engineering, computer science, or management preferred; MBA helpful
